The mission of Payla is to build the next generation Buy Now Pay Later platform for Payment Providers and Financial Institutions, enabling our customers to offer invoice and installment plans to meet the demand for fast & frictionless payments.

This position is – in the spirit of Payla – remote first.

What you will do:

  • You will cooperate closely with the CPO in continuously enhancing the risk management platform of Payla
  • You will own and lead the development of new features and ensure continuous enhancements of Paylas proprietary risk engine
  • Your closest internal stakeholders will be the Payla risk & fraud teams and your external stakeholders will be credit agencies or fraud software providers
  • You will create strategic and tactical roadmaps and execute them in cooperation with our tech team
  • You will monitor the success of our product initiatives with KPIs and convince investors and customers alike of the value-add that we deliver
  • In the first two weeks: you will be fully onboarded and understand the risk platform and BNPL business model in great detail
  • In the first 6 months: your goal is to enhance the Payla risk platform with some key quality of life features that add real business value for our risk & fraud teams
  • Within the first year: you will manage large strategic projects - e.g., rollout of fully fledged proprietary fraud applications or expanding the risk engine to cover new geographies in which Payla is expanding

Job requirements

What you will bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, ideally in areas like Business, Economics, Finance and Tech – or good arguments why this was a waste of time
  • A 3-5 year long, successful track record working in a start-up / scale-up environment, product management and/or risk & fraud management
  • Creative and detail-oriented personality with excellent communication skills cooperating with various internal and external stakeholders
  • Exceptional intellectual ability to synthesize and process a lot of information around systems and business processes
  • Overseeing the product development process from ideation, concepts, coding, business readiness, launch and profitability
  • Customer-centric thinking for close co-operation with Payment Providers and Financial Institutions to create real value for them
  • Entrepreneurial spirit to bring the product to life and cement the "powered by Payla" positioning in the market – you work highly autonomously, without a micro-manager overseeing your every move
  • Good familiarity with product management methodologies, agile development methodologies
  • Solid experience with either data analytics or previous engagement within risk & fraud management is beneficial
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English, German is a plus
  • Team player with a caring personality
